Nowadays it’s hard to give ourselves the excuse of “I didn’t know.”
We hold so much knowledge in the palm of our hands. That’s right your phone! You’re probably reading this on your phone right now.
The thing with being educated and having access to knowledge is that it means nothing if you do not act on it. What is the point of reading all this, searching for answers if you do not act on them?
If you are lacking motivation to engage in self-care strategies, ask yourself the following questions:
What is stopping you from making a change?
How would implementing these skills change your life?
Are you feeding yourself negative thoughts that maybe you are
not worth the change?
Are you afraid of who you may become if you change?
Are you comfortable where you currently are at but afraid that if you change,
you may fail?
If you are afraid of failure, just know that if you do take the leap and don’t meet your own expectations, you will fall back to where you are now.
So what do you have to lose?
Probably time, but that is already ticking by. Right now, on your phone or laptop, block out about 20 minutes every day to check in with yourself and do a self-care activity.
This time can be when you are taking a shower, on your car ride to or from work, while walking your dog. The point is that it does not matter what your blocked-out schedule looks like, as long as your intentionally reflecting in at some point in your day.
Acknowledge that change can be scary and the risks that are involved and remind yourself of why you are making the change!
Is it to be healthier?
Is it so you can be more present when spending time with your loved ones?
Is it to feel less overwhelmed and feel in control and balance in your life?
Focus in on your why and let go of the fear.
