Are you interested in doing some online therapy but wondering how it can benefit you? Here are some of the amazing benefits to online therapy and why you should consider it for yourself.

No need to worry about traffic

The only traffic you have to think about is maybe getting home from work, assuming you do not work from home. So many of my clients highly value their time, as they are busy couples and individuals. The idea of sitting in traffic, whether you are in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio, can be frustrating and overwhelming. When I had my physical office, a drawback for many clients was often having to cut sessions short due to running late. I have rarely come into this issue with virtual counseling. Clients also do not have to worry about speeding to their session, as they can conveniently join in where they have privacy.

Availability and Attendance Increases

With online therapy, you can maintain your attendance with your therapy sessions and because you are less likely to miss, you have a higher chance of reaching your therapy goals. A primary reason for this is because you literally can reach into your back pocket to begin your therapy session through a secured client portal app. Another example is that perhaps you are in Houston and have a long commute, which impedes your ability to attend weekly therapy sessions, as your therapy session may be far from where you live and work. This is no longer an issue with online therapy.

Modern Wellness Counseling San Antonio Texas 6 Benefits to Online Therapy Privacy

Privacy

The phrase “it’s such a small world” can definitely come true in any waiting room. Unfortunately, when I had my physical office, I had some clients who ran into this issue. Some clients no longer felt comfortable continuing their sessions, with the worry that they may run into someone they knew in the waiting room. I completely understand the uneasiness this can bring up, regardless if you are in a waiting room for your therapy appointment, emergency room, OB/GYN, or even your dentist. With online therapy, you do not have to run the risk of running into people you may know and find yourself in the predicament of having to explain why you are there.

No Need for Childcare

Prior to doing online therapy, one of the biggest reasons for clients to cancel their sessions or not be able to attend therapy in general, was not having childcare. Since our practice has shifted to online therapy, our couples and individuals have been able to keep their sessions, as they have not needed to get childcare. Some of our clients will have their babies in session with them, which we do not mind at all! This has made it convenient for our new parents who may still be breastfeeding or wanting to not take their newborns out in public yet, still make time for their mental health and relationships. Some of our clients have also shared that during their online therapy sessions, their child may be in the other room completing homework or watching a movie, of course this is appropriate for older children. Other clients have shared that they enjoy the daytime sessions, as they are able to have more quiet time in their home while their kids are at school. Whatever stage you are in as a parent, we can meet your needs through online therapy so that you can be able to take care of yourself and your family.

Have your pet close by

Many clients can sometimes experience some anxiety or nervousness when sharing something they have not shared with anyone. It is normal to experience this. Some clients have shared that having their pets nearby can be comforting and helpful. Because of this, we encourage for your pets to be by you so that you can pet them during your session. Feel free to introduce them to us!

Accessibility

If you have issues with driving, do not have transportation, or need to rely on others for transportation, this no longer has to get in the way of your sessions.

We are excited to be offering online therapy to Texas residents and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Visit our contact page and FAQ page for more information. You can also check out our previous blog that discusses how counseling works.
